G.O(Ms)No.105, Dated: 12.07.2021- School Education Government Examinations Higher Secondary Second year Public Examination (State Board), 2020-2021-Methodology for Awarding marks Orders - 12ஆம் வகுப்பு மாணவர்களுக்கு மதிப்பெண்கள் வழங்கும் முறை குறித்த அரசாணை வெளியீடு!!!

In the Government Order first read above orders have been issued cancelling the Public Examination for Class 12 for the academic year 2020-2021. A committee was constituted under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary to Government, School Education Department based on the announcement of Hon'ble Chief Minister to fix the methodology to be adopted for awarding marks to the candidates of Class 12 of State Board of School Education.

2. The Expert Committee has submitted its report on 25.06.2021 after having several rounds of deliberations. The Committee decided that any methodology to arrive at subject wise marks of the candidates should rest on two sound guiding principles:

(a) Transparency, Non-Arbitrariness and Objectivity :

(i) Consistent performances of the past shall set the benchmark upon which any extrapolation methodology should rest. (ii) There shall be no element of subjectivity as far as these benchmarks are

concerned. (iii) In order that these benchmarks are objective, these marks should have

already been assessed and the outcomes known to all the stake holders. (iv) These benchmarks and the related data points besides being available in the schools and with the candidates are also available with central custodian well before this process begins.

(v) Wherever gaps are there in the benchmark scores, the examining body shall have to utilize the already available marks.
